Ford Files Three Separate Raptor Recalls in One Day, Plus a Bronco Airbag Fix and a Jeep Coil-Spring Redo
Good morning. Ford filed three separate NHTSA recalls against the F-150 Raptor today, plus a fourth against the 2026 Bronco. Campaign 26V-576 covers incorrect rear axle tail bearings that can cause rear wheel lock-up or driveshaft separation, on 2026 Raptors. Campaign 26V-578 covers fuel tanks that may be improperly secured and can leak or detach while driving, reaching Raptors built from 2023 through 2026. Campaign 26V-577 covers rear stabilizer rod fasteners that weren't tightened properly at the factory, letting the rod shift out of position, on 2026 Raptors. All three repairs are free: dealers will replace the rear axle tail bearing and the stabilizer rod fasteners outright, and inspect the fuel tank straps and replace them as necessary. NHTSA lists none of the three as a stop-ride order. Notification letters go out September 15 for the stabilizer rod campaign and September 21 for the axle bearing and fuel tank campaigns; VINs for 26V-577 became searchable on NHTSA.gov today, with the other two following September 14.
Separately, campaign 26V-580 covers 2026 Bronco (U725) models where a metal burr on the right-side curtain airbag's mounting bracket can tear the airbag during deployment. Ford is mailing interim letters starting September 15 while the permanent fix — adding clearance between the bracket and airbag — isn't expected until October. This one also carries no stop-ride order.
Toyota's recall, campaign 26V-571, is a labeling issue: the load carrying capacity modification label on certain 2024 Tacoma Hybrid, 2025 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid, and 2026 RAV4 Hybrid, 4Runner and 4Runner i-Force Max Hybrid vehicles may show inaccurate added-weight figures, putting them out of compliance with FMVSS 110's tire and rim selection standard. Dealers will replace the label; letters go out October 18.
Chrysler's is more serious. Campaign 26V-562 covers 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and 2022-2023 Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee 4xe models where rear coil springs may have been installed incorrectly and can detach while the vehicle is being driven. It replaces two earlier campaigns, 26V051 and 23V413, with owners already repaired under those handled separately. Interim letters go out September 29 while FCA finalizes a permanent fix.
On public land, BLM's Montana-Dakotas office opened a temporary closure on Cave Gulch Road today, which it says is needed to carry out safety upgrades intended to improve access once the work is done.
In the aftermarket, SuperATV announced it has acquired High Lifter and its family of brands — Snorkel Your ATV, Falcon Ridge and Side By Side Stuff — extending a buying run that already includes Assault Industries and HCR Suspension, according to Dirt Wheels and UTV Action. POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DIFFERENTIAL UNIT: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2026 F-150 vehicles. Incorrect rear axle tail bearings may have been installed, which can result in rear wheel lock-up or driveshaft separation.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the rear axle tail bearing, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 21, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S63. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 14, 2026.
