BLM Closes Little Elk Mountain Road After Coast Range Landslides as Two Other Orders Lift
Good morning. If you were planning to run the Coast Range, the most consequential item of the day is a closure. BLM Oregon/Washington reports that landslides have closed Little Elk Mountain Road, and that Windy Peak Road remains closed. That is BLM's decision, posted October 26, and it is the authority that governs whether those roads are passable — not trail chatter or a map that predates the slides. Do not route around a closed road onto ground you cannot confirm is managed differently; the closure here names specific roads, nothing wider.
Two other BLM Oregon/Washington actions ran the other direction the same day. The agency announced the rescission of a fire prevention order for the Roseburg District on October 26, and separately rescinded a closure order for public lands within the Burns District, also posted October 26. A rescission lifts the restriction BLM had imposed; these are BLM's determinations for those two districts only. Check the specific order for your district before you go — the Coast Range closure above shows the same agency can be restricting one area while releasing another on the same calendar day.
On the product side, The Drive reports Jeep will sell a Grand Wagoneer with a locking safe under the center armrest, opening by keypad or the vehicle's emergency key, offered in option packages from $1,995. TFLtruck reports the 2027 Jeep Gladiator now adds a factory 35-inch tire package option, after Jeep first rolled that out on the Wrangler. Both are factory-offered on the model years named — nothing here tells you either option retrofits to an older truck, so do not assume it does.
In the industry, UTV Action and Dirt Wheels both report Polaris has signed off-road champion Kyle Chaney to a multi-year RZR Factory Racing deal, running the RZR Pro R Factory at King of the Hammers and select U.S. events, announced October 21.
Racing results closed out the day. Dirt Wheels reports Chloe Harper won Ironman to clinch her second straight GNCC WXC ATV championship with one round remaining, and that Brycen Neal won the 2026 Ironman GNCC to clinch his fifth consecutive ATV national title, also with a round in hand. Dirt Bike Magazine reports FMF KTM's Trystan Hart went a perfect 1-1-1 at Round 3 of the 2026 AMA EnduroCross in Everett for his second overall win in a row.
Zoom out: The same land manager, BLM Oregon/Washington, both closed and reopened ground on the same day, so where you can run depends entirely on which district you are in.
