What a 3-inch lift buys you is room. More space between the tire and the fender means you can fit taller, more aggressive rubber and keep it from rubbing at full stuff or full lock. On the numbers: torque specs for the mounting hardware, and any recommended tire pressure once you've fitted new tires, belong to your Ranger's service manual and the tire's own rating. Do not guess at them. A lift kit is held on by fasteners that carry real load, and a bolt run to the wrong torque can back out or fail under exactly the conditions you bought the kit to handle. The manual gives you a value that was tested for your machine; a number from memory or a forum is a gamble with suspension hardware.

Two more honest notes. A 3-inch lift is a mechanical job — if you are not comfortable supporting the machine safely and working under it, have it fitted. And keep every safety system the Ranger came with intact through the install; a lift is not a reason to leave a guard, a belt, or a seat restraint off. Do the work once, do it to the manual, and the clearance is yours for the life of the machine.
