Fox 2.0 Performance Series IFP Shocks: a bolt-on damper upgrade for the 2018–2026 Wrangler JL

If you own a 2018 through 2026 Wrangler JL, these are the shocks to look at. The Fox 2.0 Performance Series IFP set is listed to fit the JL across that full model-year range. If your Jeep is older than 2018 — a JK, for instance — this set is not listed for it, and you should not fit it on the assumption that a JL part carries over. The platform changed, and so did the mounting and length figures.

What you are buying is a damper, not a lift. The "IFP" stands for internal floating piston: a monotube design that separates the oil from a charge of gas so the fluid does not foam under repeated hard hits. The practical result is more consistent damping on a washboard road or a long downhill, where a tired twin-tube shock fades and the ride goes vague. If your factory shocks are worn, or you simply want tighter control at speed, this is the category of part that addresses it. It will not raise the Jeep or add tire clearance on its own.

Fit this as a direct replacement for the factory dampers. It does not change your spring, so your ride height stays where it is. If you are running a lift, check that the shock length matches your current spring height before ordering — a shock sized for stock geometry can top out or bottom out on a lifted vehicle. The fitment data here confirms the platform and years only; it does not tell you which length suits a modified suspension.

Do not guess at the gas charge pressure or any mounting torque. Those numbers live in the service manual for your Jeep and in Fox's installation instructions, and they exist for a reason: a monotube shock is pressurized, and under- or over-torqued hardware at a suspension mount is how a bracket cracks or a stud lets go on the trail. Use the specified values. If you do not have them, get them before you turn a wrench.

Installation is within reach of a competent home mechanic with a jack, stands, and the right sockets, but it is suspension work — support the vehicle properly and do not get under it on a jack alone. If anything about the mounting points looks different from the instructions, stop and confirm you have the correct part for your year. Once fitted, recheck the hardware after your first few outings, as fasteners can settle.
