Four Ford recalls hit the F-150 and Bronco, Land Rover expands a converter fix — check your VIN before your next drive
Good morning. Start with the one that can bite while you are moving. Ford is recalling certain 2026 F-150 vehicles because incorrect rear axle tail bearings may have been installed, which can result in rear wheel lock-up or driveshaft separation (NHTSA 26V-576, Ford's number 26S63). Dealers will replace the rear axle tail bearing free of charge; VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 14, 2026. Ford customer service is 1-866-436-7332. NHTSA does not list this as a stop-ride, but rear wheel lock-up is the kind of failure you do not want to discover on a descent.
Ford's fuel-system campaign covers a wider span: certain 2023-2027 F-150 vehicles whose fuel tank may be improperly secured and leak fuel, or detach from the vehicle while driving (26V-578, Ford 26S69). Dealers will inspect and replace the fuel tank straps as necessary. Two more Ford campaigns landed the same day: 2026 F-150 stabilizer rod fasteners that may not have been tightened properly, letting the rod shift out of position (26V-577, Ford 26S66), and 2026 Bronco right-hand side curtain air bags that a mounting-bracket metal burr can tear during deployment (26V-580, Ford 26S64), with the remedy anticipated in October 2026.
Land Rover expanded an earlier action: a DC-DC converter that may malfunction under high power demand or a start-up software error, across a long model list that includes Defender (2020-2024) and Discovery (2021-2024) among others (26V-599, Land Rover E008, expanding 26V-248). Dealers will update the software free of charge; interim letters are expected November 13, 2026, and Land Rover's line is 800-637-6837.
