Four Ford recall campaigns — fuel tanks, axles, suspension and a Bronco air bag
Good morning. The most serious item for truck owners came from NHTSA. Campaign 26V-578 (Ford's number 26S69) covers certain 2023–2027 F-150 vehicles — listed by NHTSA as RAPTOR 2023–2027 — where the fuel tank may be improperly secured and can leak fuel or detach from the vehicle while driving. It is not a stop-ride order, but that is not a reason to sit on it: dealers will inspect and replace the fuel tank straps as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters are expected to be mailed September 21, 2026, and VINs became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 14.
Two more campaigns hit the 2026 F-150. Under 26V-576 (Ford 26S63), incorrect rear axle tail bearings may have been installed, which NHTSA says can result in rear wheel lock-up or driveshaft separation; dealers will replace the rear axle tail bearing free of charge, with letters expected September 21. Under 26V-577 (Ford 26S66), stabilizer rod fasteners may not have been tightened properly and the rod can shift out of position; dealers will replace the fasteners, letters were expected September 15, and VINs became searchable September 10. Do not try to torque those fasteners yourself — the value lives in the service manual, and a suspension fastener set by guesswork is exactly the failure the recall is meant to end.
The fourth, 26V-580 (Ford 26S64), covers certain 2026 Bronco vehicles (NHTSA code U725), where a metal burr on the right-hand side curtain air bag mounting bracket can tear the air bag during deployment. Dealers will increase the space between the bracket and the air bag; interim letters were expected September 15, with the remedy anticipated in October 2026. For any of these, owners can reach Ford at 1-866-436-7332 and should check their own VIN on NHTSA.gov. None carries a stop-ride instruction — but book the free fix, and do not disable an air bag while you wait.

POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DIFFERENTIAL UNIT: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2026 F-150 vehicles. Incorrect rear axle tail bearings may have been installed, which can result in rear wheel lock-up or driveshaft separation.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the rear axle tail bearing, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 21, 2026.
